Radon

At FF Radon we have a long-established experience of providing professional gas membrane installation and radon protection solutions into the construction industry.  The main guidance for Ireland; Technical Guidance Document C: 2020 and the UK; BRE 211: 2023 sets out the procedures for adequate protection measures and how to determine the level of protection required for site.  FF Radon will provide the full service from specification, supply, and installation.  Our services include:

  • Radon Protection Solution Proposal Reports
    • Setting out the risk to the development and receptors from radon;
    • Providing a detailed protection solution using ventilation and sump systemsgas membrane installation and floor slabs; and
    • Supplying site specific detailed drawings.
  • Full Design Services
    • If required FF Radon can arrange a full design with an independent environmental engineering consultancy;
    • They will provide a design report, installation requirements, verification strategy, and detailed site-specific drawings and layouts; and
    • Covered by €1.3/£1m design specific professional indemnity.
  • Installation Quality
    • FF Radon team leaders hold NVQ L2 qualifications in gas membrane installation and TWI CSWIP qualifications in plastic membrane welding techniques to provide our clients with industry recognised competency markers;
    • All other FF Radon operatives are working towards NVQ L2 qualifications when they begin work with the company; and
    • FF Radon insist on the highest standards of installation, professionalism, and punctuality from all our staff to ensure our service is second to none.
  • Verification
    • FF Radon promote the use of independent verification on all sites and can arrange this through an independent environmental engineering consultancy;
    • BRE 211: 2023 now states that the verification process should be managed by a suitably qualified and accredited company;
    • When asked to arrange verification, FF Radon will only engage with CL:AIRE accredited consultancies who can provide declarations of compliance through the Gas Protection Verification System (GPVS) that CL:AIRE operate;
    • Some gas membrane installers will arrange verification through side companies or membrane manufacturers which is not good practice and puts the client at risk ultimately.
    • FF Radon have no concerns in our installation work being professionally and independently scrutinised and encourage this transparency.
